Fukudome Sweepstakes Ends in Chicago
The Cubs will pay 30-year-old Japanese star Kosuke Fukudome $12 mill per for the next four seasons to play right field. In ‘06, he hit .351 with 31 homers in Japan. That all sounds great, but the real question is this: Does he have the greatest last name in professional athletics?

Another Scary Moment For T.J. Ford
Raptors guard T.J. Ford was putting on a show in Atlanta last night, when he stole a pass, went up for a lay-up and was absolutely mauled by Al Horford. The result was not pretty, as Ford hit the floor hard, with his head bouncing off the hardwood (check out the video). This is the same Ford who missed all of the ‘04-‘05 season with a neck injury. Here’s to a speedy recover for him.
Petrino Opts Not to Delay Inevitable, Rolls Out of Atlanta
No one can blame Bobby Petrino for wanting out of Atlanta, and taking the head coaching job at Arkansas. The franchise is a complete mess, and probably will be for at least the next couple seasons. The team is probably better off with him leaving as well. Plus, the SEC is more talented and competitive than the NFC South anyway.
Hope Saint Mary’s Enjoyed Their One Week in the Top 25
When the AP Poll was released on Monday, Saint Mary’s was ranked for the first time in 18 years. A nice acknowledgment of a team in the midst of an undefeated season. It was also a nice jinx. The 24th-ranked Gaels were were crushed by Southern Illinois 71-56 last night.↵
