Patriots Have Strong Hair Metal Roots

By Chris Mottram
Lost in the legacy of the Bears’ “Super Bowl Shuffle” is a little known Pats-inspired gem entitled “Skin the Bears.”
Being the sucker that I am for the underground genre of Hair Metal/Brass Fusion, this video is right in my wheelhouse. I think this song officially marks the end to whatever once made Hair/Glam Metal cool. However, it had no effect on saxophonists. That was never cool to start with:

This bit of musical genius was obviously created before the Pats lost 46-10 to the Bears in the Super Bowl. I guess the “Shuffle” was more inspirational than some impostors putting on wigs and make-up then pretending to play instruments.
Also, what’s with the random shot of the dude holding a gun in the very beginning? That just seemed unnecessary. Then again, so are skin tight, white patent leather pants.
