While checking out NFL Mocks first round draft predictions, I realized something very scary: The Patriots could get the best player in the draft.

I obviously knew before that they get the 49ers first pick via trade, but hadn’t fully considered the fact that it could end up being the No. 2 overall pick. In other words, New England could be looking at Darren McFadden.
As it stands, the 49ers, Jets, Rams and Falcons are all tied with three wins. So, if the 49ers can win two (or all) of their final three games, the Pats would likely slide down to the fifth overall pick. Then they’ll be forced to draft some bum like Chris Long, the best defensive end in the draft.
Of course getting my hopes up about the 49ers winning any of their final three is a waste of time. They finish the season against Cincy, Tampa and Cleveland. And Trent Dilfer is their quarterback.
So what I’m saying is, “Enjoy New England, Darren. They really need your help.”
