This year’s Pro Bowl rosters have been released (take a look for yourself). These are just my initial reactions as the rosters were made public within the last hour, so feel free to share your observations in the comments:
-- Appropriately, Sean Taylor is the starting free safety.
-- There are 11 Cowboys, yet only four Packers. Same records. Same conference.
-- There are no Jaguars. They’re possibly the second best team in the AFC. Seems fair.
-- Marques Colston is left off both the starters and reserves list, despite being second in receptions and third in yards in the NFC. At the very least, he should be a reserve over Donald Driver.
-- Similar situation for Wes Welker, although you can’t put him in ahead of any of the four starters/reserves from the AFC (T.J., Wayne, Moss, Braylon).
-- Favre is the starting NFC QB over Romo. There is a god.
-- Fred Taylor has over 1,000 yards and an incredible 5.1 YPC. But as previously noted, Jaguars are not allowed to participate in the Pro Bowl this year.
-- Marion Barber (871 yards) was named a reserve RB instead of Clinton Portis (1,082 yards). Barber does average a full yard better per carry, so maybe he’s more deserving than CP. I’m not sure.
Yes, I know it’s the Pro Bowl, and we shouldn’t care, but it’s Tuesday and there is nothing else NFL-related to talk about. And did I mention 11(!) Cowboys made the team? That must create some sort of public outcry.↵
