If Chris Simon’s goal as a hockey player is to scare every opposing player from stepping on the ice, then he’s probably succeeded. To put it simply, the man might be insane.
After the two-hand tomahawk chop he gave to Ryan Hollweg’s neck/face last season, Simon was suspended for 25 games. Apparently, he didn’t get the message, because this is what he did over the weekend:
Stomping on Other Players Will Get You Suspended
That little attempt to severe Jarkko Ruutu’s Achilles tendon into pieces will cost Simon 30 games. Simon’s coach, Ted Nolan, called the suspension “excessive.” To which I must ask, “You’re joking, right?”
I’m not even sure Simon should ever be allowed to play hockey again based on these, and other, incidents. I’m actually nervous about him being able to walk freely down the street. This guy is clearly not right. Although part of the suspension includes counseling, so perhaps that will help. Xanax is a hell of a drug.
