Brown Family Dinners Will Be Tense For The Holiday

By Spencer Hall
If you thought your holiday dinners were tense, awkward affairs, consider the case of Chris Jesse, Mack Brown’s stepson and member of the Texas support staff, who attempted to recover a Rudy Carpenter fumble last night during the Longhorns 52-34 victory over the Arizona State Sun Devils...despite not being a football player.

The play did lead to an Arizona State TD thanks to the officials ruling that the lunge and possible grab constituted “an unsportsmanlike act” and put the ball in ASU’s hands just shy of the goal line at 4th and 3. One pass play later, the Sun Devils scored their first points of the game to make it 21-7.
Fortunately, Texas stifled the Sun Devils’ run game, turned running back Jamaal Charles loose for two TDs, and pulled away for a 52-34 win. Mack Brown also finagled the best line of the night out of the potentially disastrous incident:
“I was standing there. I didn’t think he touched it, but it just shows you how badly our family wanted to win the game. He even got involved,” Brown said.
Mack Brown pulls out a save of a disappointing season and a save at the press conference afterwards. A moment truly well-played, coach.
