‘This Is SportsCenter’ Is Must-Watch TV

By Matt Crossman
I got my hands on an advanced copy of This Is SportsCenter -- ESPN’s hour long special dedicated to their long-running commercials -- and the verdict is that you have to watch it.
The retrospective is not only hilarious, it’s well done. The producers used interviews very sparingly, instead allowing the commercials to be the stars. More than 50 are highlighted, and three brand new ones are displayed.
My top three of all-time, in no particular order:
1. The one right before Y2K, in which the bugs are (or aren’t) worked out. Charley Steiner has the best line, as chaos engulfs the newsroom: “Follow me. Follow me to freedom!”:

2. Grant Hill playing the piano in the lobby:

3. “Cherokee, I have a watch.”:

The hour-long special will air first Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. It will be re-broadcast throughout the month on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN Classic.
