LiveBlog: Giants-Cowboys, first quarter

Chris Littmann breaks down the ongoing action of the Giants-Cowboys NFC Division Playoff matchup:
End of the first quarter
Marion Barber is stuffed on first-and-goal, but after that TV timeout, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get it again.
2:46
Perhaps it was the fact that I owned him in so many fantasy football leagues this season, but I really enjoy watching Barber run. He runs angry and looks to make contact with defenders. He looks like he’s ready to punch someone at any moment. Why did it take so long to make the switch from Julius Jones to Barber as the starter?
4:00
Terrell Owens makes his first catch since the game against the Panthers in Week 16. A nice job by Romo to put the ball on the outside shoulder, away from the defender. Important to note he was on the left side, going to the outisde, meaning he planted on his good leg -- the right -- to make that cut.
5:03
What was Terrence Newman thinking trying to touch that ball as David Tyree downed it at the Dallas 4-yard line? Really? Anyone?
7:22
I don’t think of the Giants’ offense as a particularly creative one, but splitting out Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs on back-to-back plays is a nice touch. Roy Williams can’t cover a tight end or a running back as it turns out. Bradshaw looks like a great change of pace to Jacobs’ brute strength.
10:19
Michael Johnson gets a piece of Tony Romo’s third-down throw that flutters innocently to the turf. Cue the Jessica Simpson whispers in 3, 2, 1 ... just kidding.
11:35
While the Cowboys tackled poorly on the Toomer touchdown, I wouldn’t recommend what Kawika Mitchell just did while trying to bring down Marion Barber III, who is making his first start. The personal foul moves Dallas to their 43.

11:50
Amani Toomer slips Dallas tacklers -- and briefly escapes the FOX cameras -- but he’s eventually gone for a 52-yard touchdown. The play started innocently as a simple curl, but missed tackles by Ellis and Henry give the Giants an early 7-0 lead.
13:25 remaining
I know everyone is talking about Eli Manning’s coming-of-age game last week, but I like the conservative approach early, pounding away with Brandon Jacobs.
Injury report:
The Giants are without Sam Madison and Kevin Dockery at corner. That’s big because Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn are active. Giants WR Plaxico Burress also is active for today’s game.
