LiveBlog: Giants-Cowboys, third quarter

Chris Littmann breaks down the ongoing action of the Giants-Cowboys NFC Division Playoff matchup:
End of the third quarter
Steve Smith’s third catch sets up a third-and-6 for the Giants at the Dallas 20 to start the fourth quarter. The Cowboys still lead, 17-14.
And while we wait
The FOX broadcast says Aaron Ross, the Giants’ rookie corner, is out for the rest of this game. That last shot he took from Marion Barber did him in with that bad shoulder.
:53
Nothing short of an absolute choke job by Patrick Crayton on that crossing route. The Cowboys have exposed the middle of the field, but it doesn’t matter if no one holds on. R.W. McQuarters takes the Cowboys’ punt back to the Dallas 37.
2:10
Just a foolish penalty by Leonard Davis, hitting Michael Strahan. After a short pass to Jason Witten, the Cowboys face a third-and-14. The Giants are hanging around with a skeleton secondary.
5:21
The Cowboys put pressure on Manning and DeMarcus Ware picks up just the second sack of the game for the Cowboys. That rush was different from anything we saw on the drive to close the first half.
7:01
The Giants’ pass rush puts just enough of a scare into Tony Romo that he throws an ugly ball behind T.O. across the middle. Dallas takes the field goal and goes back ahead, 17-14.
8:29
Right on cue, Romo hits Glenn for a 19-yard completion. Two plays later, Romo scrambles for another Dallas first down inside the red zone. Dallas has it at the New York 14.

As effective as Marion Barber looks, why aren’t the Cowboys testing that thin Giants secondary more often? Perhaps they’re setting the Giants up for a big play with these runs.
13:30
D’oh! We were so close. They hadn’t made a big deal about Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo, but here we go. How about you keep an eye on the game and forget about what another guy did in his personal life, particularly when he looks just fine today (10-of-16 passing for 96 yards and a TD).↵
