Aussie Police Use the ‘Spray and Run Away’ Tactic

By Chris Mottram
Yesterday, Spencer brought to our attention an incident at the Australian Open in which police were forced to use pepper spray on some spectators.
Well, now there is video of the incident. Let’s just say that police down under don’t seem to have quite the same level of crowd control training as the cops do here in the States:

Rule No. 1 for any Australian police officer: Your safety is more important than that of the general public.
Rule No. 2: When feeling moderately threatened, spray as many innocent people as possible in the face and run for cover. See also: Rule No. 1.↵
