FirstCuts: KG, Celtics Jerseys Are Top Sellers

Sports don’t start and end with a referee’s whistle. FirstCuts, a blog dedicated to sports culture, will cover everything outside the lines, from games to gear.
The NBA announced the league’s top selling jerseys and there’s a new king.

Kevin Garnett’s jerseys are selling -- but despite this picture, do not taste -- like hot cakes. Garnett knocks Kobe Bryant out of the No. 1 spot. Black Mamba slides down to No. 2 and Allen Iverson (really?) is at No. 3. LeBron James and Steve Nash round out the top five spots.
Not surprisingly, the Celtics also topped team sales. That’ll happen when two stars -- in this case, Garnett and Ray Allen -- land with a new team. The Lakers, Knicks, Bulls and Heat rounded out the top five in team sales. Hey, at least we know it doesn’t matter if they’re winners; they’re moving units.
