LiveBlog: Giants-Packers, fourth quarter and OT

Chris Littmann breaks down the ongoing action of the Giants-Packers NFC Championship Game:
Final score: Giants 23, Packers 20.
So it’s Giants-Patriots, a rematch of a pretty solid game in Week 17. I’ll be interested to see if the Giants can replicate the pressure they brought in the final game of the regular season. Also, the mix of Bradshaw and Jacobs could keep the ball out of New England’s hands. Who am I kidding, I think the Patriots will win.
12:25
Everyone loves a good redemption story, right? Well, except Green Bay fans right now. Lawrence Tynes boots one through from 47 yards to win it in OT.
14:04
Favre throws a poor ball to Donald Driver that wobbles -- it wasn’t tipped or anything -- and Corey Webster picks it off, taking it to the Green Bay 34. The Giants have to be thinking about touchdowns after Tynes missed a pair of field goals.
14:31
Koren Robinson takes it out to the Green Bay 26. On first down, Justin Tuck is slow to get up. That is a player the Giants can’t afford to lose along the defensive line. He has been a huge part of keeping the running game and screen pass game in check.
And we go to overtime
The debate will rage if you blame that on the snapper or Tynes, but that kick wasn’t even close. The Packers win the toss. Obviously they take the ball, but make no declaration as to whether they will win. It’s the second overtime game in NFC Championship history.
:04
Eli Manning spikes it after a short run by Bradshaw, setting up a 36-yard attempt. But not before the obligatory timeout. I wonder if Tom Coughlin has another rousing speech that is something like “Come on!” Motivational genius, ladies and gentlemen.
:35
Now there’s no question which back belongs out there: Ahmad Bradshaw is the man right now. Eli Manning follows it up with another first down to Steve Smith.
1:59
Steve Smith’s grab is upheld -- there didn’t seem to be a question -- but it isn’t a first down. It’s about third-and-1.
And while we wait
Already mentioned the great disappearing act of Greg Jennings. How about Ryan Grant? 12 carries, 27 yards.
Two-minute warning
Ahmad Bradshaw breaks free for a touchdown, but it’s obvious about five yards into a play that a holding flag was thrown. Of course, it doesn’t stop Bradshaw from celebrating. After a short pass to David Tyree, the Giants face second-and-16.
2:20
Brady Popping and Jarrett Bush fail to pick up a fumble on the punt by R.W. McQuarters, and it’s eventually Domenik Hixon recovering the ball at the Packers’ 44-yard line.
2:48
KGB had great burst at the line, so good the officials decided to not whistle the offsides penalty. Couldn’t tell if he was across the line, the sideline view actually made it look clean. The sack forces a punt and the Packers start at their own 17. Is Tom Coughlin having second thoughts about going with Brandon Jacobs instead of Ahmad Bradshaw on that drive?
And while we wait for a measurement
Anyone seen Greg Jennings? 1 catch, 14 yards on the day. Not bad for such an allegedly weak secondary.
6:25
The Giants force a three-and-out, putting heat on Brett Favre with a nice move by Osi Umenyiora up the middle. The Giants have outgained the Packers 144-31 in the second half after that first carry by Brandon Jacobs.
6:49
Lawrence Tynes is forced into action after Eli Manning fails to connect with Steve Smith on third down. His kick goes wide left and the game remains tied, 20-20.

8:04
And on fourth down, a ball goes off Amani Toomer and into the hands of Steve Smith. The flag on Charles Woodson makes it all mean nothing -- basically grabbed Toomer around the head, giving the Giants an automatic first down. If Green Bay loses this game, they’ll look back at these penalties. That, and their total lack of ability to put together a drive.
8:59
I don’t know that I’d take that penalty. Feagles is good at placing it inside the 20-yard line. Don’t give them a chance with Burress. But then again, that would’ve been a short punt, so maybe they would’ve gone for it either way.
And while we wait
They aren’t just working on Nick Collins, but Al Harris is getting the attention of the Giants’ medical staff. Also, Seibert suffered a knee sprain, according to FOX’s broadcast team.
10:15
If we’re casting votes for an MVP of this game, it’s got to be Plaxico Burress, right? He hasn’t given in to the temptation to do anything to warrant a flag with Al Harris ... oh, and he’s got 11 catches for 154 yards. His ability to get his body inbounds on that third-and-3 play was impressive.
11:30
Domenik Hixon is a sneaky weapon in the return game for the Giants. His return out to the New York 41 gives Eli Manning a short field to work with. Can they cash in and take the lead?
11:46
After all of that excitement, the drive ends in a Mason Crosby field goal. The Giants force the attempt for three by stopping a screen play to Ryan Grant cold in the backfield. That has been a huge part of keeping Green Bay from developing drives today. The screen game just isn’t there. With less than 12 minutes remaining, the NFC championship is tied 20-20.
14:00
Crazy sequence that starts with Favre eluding a rusher, getting outside the pocket and throwing while being hit -- and then it’s picked off by R.W. McQuarters. But McQuarters, who had the crucial interception last week against Dallas, fumbles and Mark Tausher falls on it. The Packers are in the red zone.
14:52
Favre finds Donald Driver up the middle of the field and he makes a great, drive-extending grab. I’d have to double check, but it seems like that would be the first drive with more than two first downs.↵
