Globalization of the sport, I get it. But I still hate the idea of forcing teams to travel to Europe to play a regular season American-style football game. Exhibition is fine. But games that count? Not so much.
Thank god my favorite team is not one of the eight lucky finalists who will get to fly to England next October and play in front of a bunch of fans who think the kicker is the most skilled player on the field ... I mean, “pitch.”
The possible match-ups:
-- Buccaneers vs. Raiders
-- Buccaneers vs. Chargers
-- Saints vs. Raiders
-- Saints vs. Chargers
-- Chiefs vs. Buccaneers
-- Chiefs vs. Saints
-- Seahawks vs. Patriots
-- Seahawks vs. Jets
The official announcement of the match-up will be made by Overlord Goodell on Friday the 1st. Here’s to hoping they pick the Chargers as one of the teams so the UK can construct a giant sized robot of Philip Rivers making his Marmalard face.
