While I’m certain Tom Petty -- who will perform at the Super Bowl -- will be quite exciting (“Free Fallin’” never gets old!), it’s safe to say the opening act at the NHL All-Star Game will be considerably more entertaining.
It was announced yesterday that Swedish import The Hives will perform before the hockey’s midseason classic this Sunday. And while the Hives have certainly fallen off since they created the awesomeness that was Vini, Vidi, Vicious in 2000, they’re still one of the best live bands on the planet. I saw them in a small club in D.C. a few years ago, and this video does them little justice, but still, you get the idea:
NHL Gets Better Live Bands Than the NFL
Oh, and there was also something about Sidney Crosby not being able to play in the All-Star game due to that ankle sprain. Bummer, I guess.
