Go Daddy Edited For Showing a Furry Creature
Go Daddy lost their battle with the network over airing what now seems like an innocuous ad three years ago, and it looks as if they’re taking another L in this year’s tiff over their current Super Bowl ad. The description of the ad, which will not be aired in its entirety during the Super Bowl.
The rejected ad, titled “Exposure,” features auto racer and Go Daddy spokeswoman Danica Patrick and an animated version of a beaver. The ad, which Parsons showed exclusively to The Arizona Republic Wednesday, shows supermodels with short skirts and furry creatures emerging from vehicles, followed by Patrick declaring in part, “Go Daddy gives me all the exposure I need.”
The viewers will see, instead, an edited version of the commercial urging viewers to go watch the ad in full on GoDaddy’s website. Go Daddy Chief Executive Officer Bob Parsons said, “It’s definitely our way of making lemonade out of lemons,” a quote we think we can print here, unless anyone finds the use of the word lemon too suggestive.”
The ads with Carlos Mencia tossing around cheap racial stereotypes and urging you to buy huge amount of Bud Light? Those are fine. One corny allusion to a sexual metaphor? GET THE TORCHES!
