I’m not saying I haven’t ever made a prank call in my life. I’ve probably made more than I remember … you know, when I was like 12.
That brings us to the brilliant group of people who have took it upon themselves to infiltrate the conference call for SEC women’s basketball coaches. I received another e-mail today indicating a similar incident took place on the Big East men’s basketball conference call.
Look, I know this won’t be a popular stance, but to the still-unidentified people wasting their time doing this: grow up. To break out an often-used cliché, major media members don’t come and bug you when you’re working the deep fryer at McDonald’s, so why are you messing with their work time?
It’s not that prank calls aren’t funny, but these conference calls give coaches like 6-10 minutes to take questions from writers before they’re ushered off for the next coach. By wasting their time, you’re messing with other people’s jobs. Don’t these people listen to rap? Don’t mess with another man’s paper. After all, how’d that turn out for Gizmodo at CES?
If you’re wondering where the audio is, well, you’ll have to go find it yourself. I was able to locate it, but it was basically one giant, shameless promotion for some morning shock jock. So rather than give this person a bunch of free promotion, I’ll let you decide if it’s worth your time.
Now back to your regularly scheduled, light-hearted TSB posts.
UPDATE: The Chicago Tribune has a story on today’s disruption. Jim Calhoun probably has the best line of all the coaches: “I wish some people would get a life.”↵
