The Petersons’ Thoughts on ‘Purple Jesus’

By Chris Mottram
Chris will be blogging from somewhere in Arizona all week where apparently a game is happening. He promises to not once mention anything that might actually occur on the field of play.⇥
Amongst my circle of friends -- keep in mind, most of my friends are bloggers -- Adrian Peterson is known only as “Purple Jesus.” Something about the way he dominates mixed with such a perfect nicknames makes him pretty much my favorite player who’s not on my favorite team.
So when I saw him making the rounds today on Radio Row, I only cared about one thing: His thoughts on the nickname. And, of course, what his dad thinks of his son sharing a name with Jesus Christ. The results were pretty much what you’d expect. Which is to say, kinda boring:

Probably more interesting than my lame audio is P.J.‘s father. The guy -- Nelson -- is 45 years-old and could kill me with his bare hands (I understand that’s not saying much). Plus, he has an impressive watch/bracelet combo:

Also worth mentioning is that Daddy Peterson -- or “The Father” -- had a silver “P” on his right front tooth. OK, in hindsight, maybe that wasn’t worth mentioning, but I found it pretty awesome.↵
