FirstCuts: Real Madrid headed for consoles

By Chris Littmann
Sports don’t start and end with a referee’s whistle. FirstCuts, a blog dedicated to sports culture, will cover everything outside the lines, from the games to the gear.
Real Madrid is back in the video game market with a new development deal, according to GamesIndustry.Biz.

Virgin Play will develop three properties across consoles, mobile platforms and online. According to the report, consoles of all flavors will get whatever is developed.
Still, if you believe the all-knowing gaming blog, Kotaku, don’t expect a challenger that will dethrone the likes of Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 or FIFA Soccer 2008.

Strikes me as the sports equivalent of a video game based off of a summer blockbuster flick. It has one goal, and that is to push the product into more homes. Still, I’d love to see another solid soccer game on the market. Please prove me wrong and make a decent game.
