Vinnie Iyer breaks down the ongoing action of the Titans-Chargers first-round AFC playoff game:

Titans extend the lead (0:00 left): It’s amazing. No Brandon Jones, no Roydell Williams, no Bo Scaife, and the Titans keep finding ways for Vince Young to move the ball through the air when it’s required. A picture-perfect two-minute drill executed by Young and called by Jeff Fisher ends in a picture-perfect 44-yard field goal by Pro Bowler Rob Bironas. It will be tough for Tennessee to keep the Chargers out of the end zone for two more quarters, but any road dog will take the lead the Titans have got. Tennessee 6, LaDainian Tomlinson 6 rushing yards, San Diego 0.

Missed chance (3:06 left): Nate Kaeding’s 45-yard field-goal try is horribly wide right with no chance. San Diego is really lucky that Tennessee leads only 3-0.
Gates goes down (3:34 left): Man, the Chargers suffer a big blow with their offense already struggling. Antonio Gates hurts his left foot/toe after being tackled on a short reception, and needs a cart to get off the field. This will allow the Titans to be more aggressive in positioning their linebackers and defensive backs.
Finnegan’s wake-up call, part 2 (7:18 left): Marcus Trufant, Rashean Mathis, Corey Webster and now the Titans’ underrated Cortland Finnegan. Some great individual performances by cornerbacks have been key so far in the playoffs. Finnegan adds a pick to his sack, taking it away from Chris Chambers in the end zone. He’s showing great speed and one-on-one coverage skills, much like those other three corners have this weekend. Wow.
A little Gates, a little positive energy (9:15 left): The Titans are shutting down LT, but it’s important for the Chargers to keep pounding him to keep the defense honest. Also, Philip Rivers finally finds Antonio Gates for a third-down conversion, and finds Chris Chambers streaking for a 30-yarder down the middle. The drive results in a punt, but they get past midfield for the first time, which bodes well for Rivers’ upcoming possessions.
Titans were running well, but (12:17 left): The Chargers came in with the league’s leading rusher in LaDainian Tomlinson, but the Titans were the better rushing team, ranked fifth to San Diego’s seventh. The 1-2 punch of LenDale White and Chris Brown was working nicely to get inside the Chargers’ 10, but the Chargers get the big defensive play they need to spark the offense -- a strip of Brown. They are backed up, but it still needs to be about LT and Antonio Gates.↵
