Volcom.com is a website and snowboarding/skateboarding company offering ten grand to anyone who can do the following: : complete a successfully landed kick-flip on a surfboard in full motion on a wave. The trick itself is not physcially impossible, and some people have already come very, very close to winning the prize:
Kickflip? No Problem. Kickflip on Water? Problem.
I know what you’re thinking: the obvious solution to the problem is capturing a dolphin, training it in captivity, and then teach it to help you pull of the trick by swimming beneath the board to stabilize the thing. The people at Volcom are way, way ahead of you:
There is a list of rules that the winning entry must abide by, including no tow-ats, no grabs of any kind, no wakeboards, boogie boards, or trays, no shoes (booties okay), and (my personal favorite) no dolphin-assistance.
Hope you haven’t already purchased your own trained dolphin just for this purpose. Those things are expensive to feed.
