Sports Soup On Versus Actually Not Horrible

↵↵In Tuesday’s Large Screens TV, Dave mentioned the fact that they probably wouldn’t have rights to any of the major sports, and judging from the first episode, he was right. There was a lot of UFC/MMA/NHL/Outdoors stuff going on. Whenever there was anything about any of the other mainstream sports, it didn’t generally involve clips. Instead, it was usually host Matt Iseman doing jokes with a still image over the shoulder.↵
↵↵This sounds like it would be bad, but it worked in the show’s favor ... at least in my eyes. For those of us who scour blogs all day, catching replays of every video we’ve seen is pretty uninteresting, but by presenting a few things off of the beaten path, the show retains some humor.↵
↵↵Yeah, the laugh track noise continues to be dreadful -- death to laugh tracks! -- but I’ve got to say I didn’t hate it. (Ringing endorsement, huh?) I’d have to say it was a tie between Texas Tech coach Mike Leach and the fisher who took a bite out of a still-pumping shark heart for the moment I will remember most from the premiere. (Yes, you read that correctly. A still-beating shark heart which had been removed from said shark.) ↵
