Boston College Fans Are Opinionated

Boston College fans, not known for showing up en masse for bowl games, redeemed themselves on Saturday night with some excellent officiating of their own during BC’s victory over Virginia Tech.↵

↵It’s a big field out there, and given the free-flowing confusion of a large college football game, the possibility of this working seems likely enough. The problem will come when the fad leaves the nest of small Boston College and ends up in the hands of larger, more fanatical schools. Sure, Boston College only threw one flag, but when LSU and Ohio State fans get wind of this, they’ll toss bricks wrapped in yellow nylon windsocks onto the field at the slightest no-call by the officials. Correction: Ohio State fans will throw bricks wrapped in yellow fabric; LSU fans, working the political system, will toss whole fried turkeys stuffed with cash. Both will work in their own unique way, I’m sure.↵
