Street Ballin’, Aerobics With MJ, Dr. J

Here’s a nice snapshot of the state of street ball moves, or at least what McDonald’s thought the were, circa 1991. It’s also worth asking if this is where Nike got the idea, 10 years down the road, for its immortal Freestyle ad. And, if you want to follow that line of reasoning, weird that Jordan’s not in there mixing it up with the “tricky” players, as NBA stars would be in the later version.↵

↵And speaking of funny old commercials with possible historical significance, what about the 1987 spot after the jump for the definitive “Dr. J Video Cassette”? You get highlights, a music video I’d love to see, and most importantly of all, a chance to be lead in aerobics by Erving (about 0:16 in). Somehow, this all adds up to bringing the Good Doctor into your living room. Oh how technology has the ability to completely scramble the collective brain of marketing and advertising!
