Tony Romo Not All Better Yet

Last Thursday, the most reputable news source in the country, The Onion, quoted Wade Phillips as saying the following with regards to Tony Romo’s injury:↵↵⇥“Tony has been very, very bwave through all this and barely cried at all when he heard his widdle fingey was in fact bwoken,” coach Wade Phillips said Monday, explaining that Womo was “westing comfiwy” and watching cartoons at home and had thus far managed to keep his pinkie out of his mouth. “I’d say he’s week to week, but it’s up to the team medics to say when he’s completely all-better-now.”↵↵Unfortunately for the Cowboys, Romo isn’t all better. He said on T.O.’s radio show yesterday that he’s out for this Sunday’s game against the Bucs, and likely longer than that, unless “something different happens that we don’t foresee.” I guess those unforeseen possibilities include replacing his broken finger with a robotic one or, I don’t know, learning to throw left-handed within the next four days. ↵
↵Romo also added “it is what it is,” with “it” in this case being 40-year-old Brad Johnson starting at quarterback. And if last week is any indication of what “it is,” then Dallas is in a world of hurt. Johnson lacked timing and possessed the arm strength of, well, a guy who is over the hill, plus he didn’t seem to be on the same page with his receivers. All of this is to be expected, given the situation Johnson’s been thrown into, but that doesn’t make it any better for the Cowboys. ↵
↵↵Although if you are a Cowboys fan, new receiver Roy Williams has arrived on the scene just in time to cheer you all up:↵
↵↵⇥I’m not worried about balls, I promise you that. I’m worried about W’s. That’s all I care about. To these fans, they’re all upset that we’re 4-3. I know the expectations are high for the Dallas Cowboys. But you can very easily be 0-6. How would you feel then?↵↵Hear that, Dallas? You should be grateful for those four wins your team has given you. Even if they don’t win another game, be happy with that 4-12 record. It sounds an awful lot better than 0-16, doesn’t it?↵
