Drop your coffee, spill your tea, and break a window. KOBE IS INJURED. No, not the messed-up finger he should’ve had surgery on this summer, and which didn’t stand in the way of his dominating the Olympics. Some hyper-extended knee deal that, as of now, is only as serious as you’d like it to be.↵
Kevin Martin Shows His Swagger, Earns Himself a Grand for His Dunk on Oden
↵
↵I personally was much more excited by this anecdote in the Sac Bee (via Dime) about a certain mild-mannered King’s more cocky, aggressive side:↵↵⇥Kevin Martin knew he netted more than a sweet YouTube clip Monday when he crossed over Rudy Fernandez to dunk on Greg Oden and LaMarcus Aldridge in the Kings’ 112-98 loss to Portland. Martin also won a $1,000 bet with teammate Mikki Moore on who would be the first to dunk on Oden.↵⇥

↵⇥“I had to go get my money,” Martin said. Asked if he knew Oden and Aldridge would be there when he crossed over Fernandez, Martin laughed. “Them guys have 7-(foot)-5 wingspans, so even if you don’t think they are going to be there, they are going to be there,” Martin said. “I’m glad they were there. I got a little richer today.”↵↵Martin, the new heart of the Sacramento team, is a quiet, low-volume guy from a sleepy semi-rural part of the country who effortlessly puts up points with impeccable judgment and a knack for self-effacement. So it’s good to see that, behind the scenes, he’s got some swag. All about control and balance, the best of both worlds, and a kid who will never be underrated enough.↵
