Another Sterling Palin Night for the NHL

Since the last ceremonial puck drop went so flawlessly for vice presidential candidate/No. 1 Hockey Mom Sarah Palin and the NHL, the parties decided to do it again in St. Louis last night. The Blues rolled out a carpet to center ice so Palin wouldn’t slip. Unfortunately, Blues goalie Manny Legace did slip ... because of the carpet.

↵Legace gave up two goals in the first, missed the final two periods of the Friday loss to L.A., and won’t play tonight against Florida.
↵
↵In the interest of equal time, Democratic nominee Barack Obama browbeat ESPN scribe Rick Reilly into not picking Carson Palmer in Week Six for the pair’s gimmick fantasy team. Palmer, of course, didn’t play a single down in Week Six. Obama’s choice (Drew Brees) had 320 yards and three TDs. Only one of these men is paid to writing about sports. The other is the favorite to be the next leader of the proverbial free world. Thank goodness it’s not the other way around.↵
