↵Aside from the fact that NASCAR drivers only have to go one way instead of navigating a treacherous course, here’s another reason why rally is better than stockcar racing: They don’t have pit crews. So when something goes wrong, say for instance a throttle cable breaks rendering the long skinny peddle at the driver’s feet useless, he must improvise to get to the car to the next checkpoint. ↵↵Such was the case with a rally team in France this week. But this was no amateur night at the improv. After the throttle cable busted, the driver of the car climbed onto the engine, under the hood, and operated the throttle by hand while his navigator took the wheel to steer and shift gears. They made it successfully to the check point without anyone dying. ↵
