Yeah, That Was the Worst Foul(s) Ever

There’s no point in trying to explain what happened in Tucson last night because, well, it’s impossible. Here’s the video of the last 30 seconds of the Arizona-UAB game, in which the Wildcats foul UAB on purpose twice with the score tied. The video is seven minutes long, but you can go ahead and skip through the timeouts and such to see the madness unfold:↵

↵The first foul after the Arizona free throw putback can be chalked up to a freshman mistake -- Arizona’s Kyle Fogg obviously didn’t register the score and the situation. But the second, more horrendous intentional foul with .08 on the clock is interim coach Russ Pennell fault. Clearly, he did not get the “DO NOT FOUL WE’RE GOING TO OVERTIME” message across to his players seeing as Jamelle Horne went diving across the floor, desperately trying to hack the UAB player. ↵↵At least the Arizona team took it like men: “The kids are in there (in the dressing room), you’ve got guys bawling their eyes out,” coach Pennell said. ↵
