Miami-GA Tech: Sexy Doesn’t Cover It, Really

Appreciate Miami fans for what they are: college football’s gleefully tasteless and charity-free barbarians. They admit no defeat, as exemplified by the Miami fan who, down by 21 last night, very seriously bellowed into the air “That’s all right, we’ve got ‘em right where we want ‘em!” They address anyone and everyone around them in opposing teams’ colors in an ... overly familiar fashion. (“Hey, Tech fan. Your white out sucks. You’re gonna die.”) They shave the “U” logo into their back hair and have been known to get creative with dying other body hair, too.↵

↵Last night I went to Georgia Tech, and despite temperatures approaching what many Floridians regard as fatal, 'Canes fans did turn out for an unexpectedly boisterous scene at Bobby Dodd Stadium. They even used the stands as their own public locker room, which they seemed extremely comfortable with, even posing for more pictures, because we repeat: they have no shame.↵

↵↵Tech went on to destroy the Hurricanes, rushing for 472 yards on the night and using Georgia Tech technology to wind the football year back to 1963 and run the triple-option until Miami’s cleats fell off. The unexpected short and long-term success of Georgia Tech this year in Paul Johnson’s first year had Yellow Jacket fans giddy enough to drop their pants. These words are literal. They dropped their pants.↵

↵↵If that’s not the picture of happiness, I don’t know what is. Thank your lucky stars the score wasn’t reversed, though: a Miami fan might not have been wearing the long johns.↵
