Nick Saban Finds Solace in Media, Not LSU Fans

↵
↵
↵LSU fans welcomed Alabama as any good hosts would: by burning head coach Nick Saban in effigy. But reading the southern Louisiana newspapers this morning, you’d think Saban is a saint.
↵
↵In the New Orleans Times-Picayune, columnist John DeShazier insists Saban has done nothing worse than any other college football coach in the country. Glenn Guilbeau of the Shreveport Times steps into the shrilldome, though, in his defense of Saban. Guilbeau argues that LSU coach Les Miles owes his success to Saban.↵↵⇥Had Saban stayed at LSU, Miles might still be at Oklahoma State making a lot less money or, worse, he could be at Michigan. Saban made Miles a millionaire.↵↵What a hero! Pardon me for quibbling, but can Saban really claim credit for LSU’s national championship last year, or three straight top-5 finishes? I think Les Miles made Les Miles a millionaire. But don’t let salient logic based on reality get in the way of good, old-fashioned contrarianism.↵
