Another Eagle Drops Ball Before the Goal Line

Surely you recall quite possibly the most infamous play of the season back on September 15, when Eagles rookie DeSean Jackson started his celebration a little early, dropping the ball before crossing into the end zone against Dallas. You’d think his teammates would’ve learned not to do this. Cornerback Asante Samuel did not. ↵↵During the second quarter of Monday night’s Browns-Eagles game, Samuel had a sure pick-six, but right before reaching paydirt he did this: ↵

↵↵Luckily for him, and the Eagles, the ball didn’t roll to an opponent, or out of bounds, and Samuel was able to scoop it up for the touchdown: ↵

↵↵Mike Tirico mentioned that Samuel may have dropped the ball early as they cut to commercial, but that seemed to be the extent of the discussion -- perhaps because they were too busy still trying to explain to Tony Kornheiser who Ken Dorsey is. I’m not certain if the refs ruled it a fumble or not. But look at that screen grab -- there’s no doubt it was. ↵
