As we prepare for the weekend, Mark Teixeria is still holding the world hostage. The news out of Bristol on Tuesday was that Tex was “getting close” to making his decision. “Close” is clearly a relative team. If we’re looking at the entire spectrum of Earth’s existence, then ESPN’s report from three days ago will end up being accurate, even if it takes another 8,462 years for him to sign somewhere. But if we take “close” to mean “imminent,” then the WWL was dead wrong. Because it’s now about 72 hours from that report and we got nothin’.↵↵Well, aside from this: The Red Sox have withdrawn from the race for Teixeria. Or have they? (DUN-DUN-DUUUN!) Click this screengrab to enlarge and you’ll see what I mean -- it’s all so confusing:↵
Please, Teixeria, Just Give Us a Sign

↵↵According to that story on the right, the Sox were outbid as of 1:58 PM on Friday and no longer interested. But wait! Gammons and Olney say Boston’s still in it as of 3:27 PM. Who to believe?! I’m still sticking with my Venn diagram from Wednesday -- the Red Sox will sign Teixeria. Graphs don’t lie. ↵
