Neither Snow Nor Sleet Shall Keep Matt Cassel From Shredding the Cards

↵The Matt Cassel Cash Grab continues. Well, I suppose the No Dreamboat Playoff Run is more important, but whatever: the Patriots have smacked the Cardinals in the inclement weather in Mass., taking a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter. Cassel has 100 yards and a TD, and LaMont Jordan has been the beneficiary with two short TD runs. Cassel has two completions longer than 35 yards despite the snowy sky.

↵Kurt Warner’s missing a big option, as Anquan Boldin has shoulder problems and isn’t playing. Down three scores with a 4th-and-1 in New England territory, Warner threw an incompletion. It feels like an early last gasp and the way things have gone, more Cardinals might sit in the second half. Arizona finds itself with little at play the rest of the regular season: the division’s sewn up, and there’s no shot at a first-week bye. Meanwhile, New England needs to win to keep its postseason hopes alive.

↵Miami’s another team with the playoffs at stake this afternoon. Its battle remains a bit tighter: Tyler Thigpen has been a monster, and the Chiefs lead the Fins 21-17 in the second quarter. Miami controls its proverbial playoff destiny, with a match-up against the Jets looming next week. New York draws Seattle later this afternoon. The Pats would love both rivals to lose, but could settle for winning big and watching one fall. If the Dolphins come back and the Jets win, the Pats are toast.↵
