Jets Blow It in the Snow

↵With the Dolphins and Patriots both moving to 10-5 in the early set, the Jets needed a win at 3-11 Seattle to maintain control of their football destiny. Brett Favre should be able to get it done against a rather dreadful Seahawk defense, right? WRONG. Seriously, seriously wrong. Vaunted gunslinger Seneca Wallace outdanced the Pro Bowler (Sacramento, stand up!) and the Seahawks pulled out a 13-3 victory.
↵
↵Down seven with four minutes left, Favre had a shot. On a 4th-and-four from his own 20, Favre lofted a ball into double-coverage. Laveranues Coles had it in his mittens ... but Seattle DB Kelly Jennings knocked it out. The Seahawks burned some clock and Olinda Mare nailed the chip shot for the insurmountable lead. (Though Favre gave it another effort with 90 seconds left. Unfortunately, his second pass of his fatal drive ended up in the hands of Josh Wilson, who had both picks of Favre.)
↵
↵Now New York needs to beat Miami next week and pray for a Patriots loss in Buffalo to get the division.
↵
↵By the way, for those angered by Favre-over-Philip Rivers in the Pro Bowl: Favre did jack against the awful Seahawks, while Rivers carved up a stout Bucs defense for almost 300 yards and four touchdowns. Both QBs faced must-win circumstances. And if Favre wants to use the snow in Seattle as an excuse, allow me to present Matt Cassel’s 345 yards and three TDs in a veritable storm the likes of Hannibal never faced. Even JaMarcus Russell had a great day in cruddy weather!↵
