Lions: 0-13, At the Hands of Tarvaris Jackson

↵With Gus Frerotte offering up two ducks to the un-vaunted Detroit defense and Calvin Johnson making magic with a brilliant 70-yard TD catch, the Lions could just taste a first victory. Detroit led 13-10 heading into the fourth. Then, Tarvaris Jackson happened.
↵
↵Jackson actually only did exactly what Minnesota needed him to do four months ago: don’t screw up. Jackson couldn’t handle that in September and lost his job to Frerotte. Today, Gus was injured on his second interception. Jackson came in and handed off the Adrian Peterson repeatedly, scrounging up the deciding 10 points while the Viking defense shut down the un-vaunted Detroit onslaught.
↵
↵With 16 seconds left, Detroit had the ball at its own 29 with no timeouts, needing a touchdown to win. Daunte Culpepper fumbled and a Lion recovered with a 5-yard loss. Daunte got up and spiked the ball. Drew Henson (!) replaced Culpepper behind center for the final play of the game ... and took a sack before getting the Hail Mary attempt off. Minny wins 20-16, and Detroit is three losses away from a perfectly awful season.
↵
↵In a brilliant twist of fate, Jared Allen -- he of $90,000 in 2008↵fines for dirty hits and showboating, but mostly dirty hits -- was↵taken out in the first half ... by a dirty hit to the knee from a Lion↵lineman. Sometimes the world just makes everything right.↵
