Jordan/Brown Ineptitude Continues

Full disclosure: I grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I rooted hard for the Heels. I went to UNC basketball camp one summer even though I could barely make a free throw. I also, for a very long time, admired Larry Brown as not just a member of the old school, but one of the last pillars of my ethnicity in the NBA. Oh, and I like Michael Jordan.↵

↵But that’s not going to stop me from calling Charlotte’s Brown/Jordan tandem the worst coach/executive team of the modern era. On sheer approach to their job. Check out this tidbit from the Daily News, repeated elsewhere:↵↵⇥Judging from all the chatter in their locker room, the Timberwolves are convinced that Gerald Wallace will be coming on board from Charlotte, with Rashard McCants and Jason Collins heading to the Bobcats.↵↵
No big revelation that Brown either doesn’t want Wallace, or doesn’t feel he can build around Wallace and fellow athletic swingman Jason Richardson, or just needs to get flexibility to do his thing. Whatever that is. But what makes this latest development even more despicable is that -- and again, I say this as a Tar Heel born and bred -- it would reunite McCants with 2005 NCAA champ-mates Sean May and Raymond Felton. That’s a philosophy pro teams hardly ever try because it doesn’t work. It is not an easy recipe for success. See last year’s slew of “could Florida beat the Grizzlies?” columns.↵
↵
↵But factor in the UNC-brotherhood crap that so consumes Jordan and Brown, MJ laziness as a [whatever he is] and Brown’s increasing ineptitude on the court, and it seems like they’re more interested in making people happy at a Christmas Parade or sports card show than winning at the professional level. My, how the mighty have fallen.↵
