Isiah’s Reign as Team President May Be Ending

By Bethlehem Shoals
Isiah may finally be out as team president, though it’s a little too late for us to care. Oh, and Dolan wants Zeke to stay on as coach. Business as usual over at MSG, even if, on the surface, a major change is occurring.

Here’s the weird part: The leading candidate, Kiki Vandeweghe, is decent. But Jerry Colangelo, Donnie Walsh, and Jerry West have also come up. These are all men who have more basketball acumen and class in their respected shriveling pinkies than Zeke does in all his glimmering teeth, or Dolan in his Faustian beard. Throughout the Isiah trial, we heard that Dolan was an arrogant, hopeless, stubborn prick. But now he’s got some of the game’s most respected minds interested in running his team?
After what came out in that courtroom, it would be tough for Dolan to claim that Thomas was the real villain. And yet he’s got the likes of West and Walsh willing to plunge themselves into this blood-swamp of a front office. Maybe these distinguished old men feel like they can step in and assert themselves in that overgrown frat house. I once saw this documentary on how teen elephants who had lost their parents run wild and kill farmers until you import out-of-town elders. Then elephants return to their peaceful, rational ways.
Did Dolan see this, too? Does he know he’s his own worst enemy? All he wants is a father figure, since he’s got issues with his real dad? All along, Isiah was the great enabler, the bad elephant that tipped the organization toward chaos?
Bring in Big Bull Colangelo (PUN ON HIS POLITICS DUALLY NOTED), give him a mandate to set things straight. Spend the rest of this season just watching the players under Isiah, since that will show you their true colors. And then over the summer, offer Isiah a position a pre-draft scout. He’s the best there is.↵
