What Your Television Is Doing This Weekend

By Brian Powell
March Madness:
The Madness doesn’t officially start until the conference tourneys kick off, but as soon as March 1st rolls around I start getting excited. All of the cleverly named “Weekends” and “Weeks” (Bracket Buster, Rivalry, Judgment, etc.) are past us and every team is jockeying for position in their conference standings heading into Dick Sporting Goods Championship Week (OK, so I forgot one “Week”). This weekend is huge for the Big East and Big 12, and if you need to catch up on your college basketball before the Tournament, now’s the time.
Games to watch:
-- Pittsburgh at Syracuse: ESPN, Saturday Noon (Dave Pasch and Len Elmore)
-- No. 10 Georgetown at No. 21 Marquette: CBS, Saturday 2pm (Gus Johnson and Clark Kellogg)
-- No. 7 Kansas at Kansas State: ESPN, Saturday 9pm (Dan Shulman, Dick Vitale and Erin Andrews)
-- No. 12 Indiana at No. 15 Michigan State: CBS, Sunday 2pm (Dick Enberg and Dan Bonner)
-- Villanova at No. 18 Louisville: CBS, Sunday 4pm (Craig Bolerjack and Bob Wenzel)
And if you aren’t excited yet, I’ve got the perfect motivational speaker (Via SI’s Hot Clicks):

The Arena Football League:
The AFL is back baby! And if you’re like me you’re missing football pretty badly right about now. ESPN/ABC has a brand new announcing booth and if you can get past the nets, walls, players you’ve never heard of and the tiny field, it’s still football. Well not really, but it will do. The season kicks off as the Dallas Desperados take on the Georgia Force this Saturday on ABC at 1pm. Bob Wischusen, Shaun King and Marcellus Wiley are on the call.
Other Options:
NASCAR’s UAW-Dodge 400 from Las Vegas (FOX, Sunday 3:30pm); Gymnastics (NBC, Saturday 1pm); NBA: Mavs at Lakers (ABC, Sunday 3:30pm); NHL: Flyers at Rangers (NBC, Sunday 12:30).↵
