SBNation NFL Mock Draft, Pick 46: The Cincinnati Bengals Select...

No. 46
Pick by Cincy Jungle

Pat Sims
Defensive Tackle
Auburn

The Cincinnati Bengals added LB Keith Rivers in the first round of the 2008 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft, the striped cats have added Auburn defensive tackle Pat Sims in the second round. Kirkendall, head blogger at Cincy Jungle, is here to explain why Sims is a good fit in Cincy:

Heading into 2008, the Bengals have three defensive tackles signed with game experience and a fourth that's an off-season roster addition having played as a career practice squad player. John Thornton has the experience (128 games) and Domata Peko has an edge on size on this mediocre roster of defensive tackles (6'3", 319 pounds). As if the starters weren't weak enough, the Bengals' depth is non-existent with Michael Myers and Titus Adams backing up Peko and Thornton. This team isn't just desperately looking for quality up the middle. They actually need bodies for their roster or risk running into the world's craziest turnstile like linebacker last season.

Knowing this, the Cincy Jungle community picked defensive tackle, Pat Sims out of Auburn. I admit it. I know nothing of the guy – that’s where guys like Matt Miller. So, Matt?
Matt Miller, host of this site as well as owner of New Era Scouting, provides his analysis below:

Sorry for the late post (check out newerascouting.com today, new layout). Pat Sims is a mammoth, gap plugging defensive tackle. Exactly what Cincinnati needs, even if they didn't know it. Sims is a complete player, but he could have benefited from another year at Auburn. He may not be a great pass rusher in year one, but he'll develop into a nice run defender and will free up the athletic Cincinnati linebackers.

We’ve got one more pick coming your way today, and it’ll be made by the folks at the Daily Norseman. Their Minnesota Vikings are on the clock.

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.
