The 76ers’ Samuel Dalembert: Mohawklicious

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a basketball dilettante at best, and I’m also a Philly guy, so you’ll have to excuse me for a moment if I thought the big story of the playoffs last night was not the Suns or the Mavericks or the imminent demise of Mike D’Antoni, but the ridiculously illmatic mohawk sported by Samuel Dalembert at the Palace. ↵↵The mohawk has been making its presence felt the last few years in the NBA, with Damon Jones, Deshawn Stevenson, Andray Blatche, and Josh Smith among the perpetrators. But with all due respect, them guys were all sporting faux-hawks at best. None of them, you know, completely committed to the moment. Or to put it another way, and also to cite rule #1 of The Mohawk Handbook – “You got to grow the ‘fro for the ‘hawk to show.” ↵

↵↵And that’s where the Haitian Sensation did it proud. Sammy D went all Clubber Lang with his ‘hawk last night, and to my mind that demands respect, even if it’s utility as an inspirational tool was ultimately non-existent. And if you didn’t see it, the picture below doesn’t do it justice, cause holms had some nice “SD3” patterns going on the sides too. Even in massive defeat, his ill-rating was completely off the charts.↵
