Going Scenario Crazy Over Possible Mavs Moves

I’m still not so sure that Josh Howard’s headed out the door. But with the Mavs eliminated long ago, and Rose/Beasley not that relevant to them, the Dallas Morning News has decided to fill column upon column with possible scenarios.↵
↵
↵Of the 15 scenarios the papers offers, some are far-fetched, some pointless, others strictly message board fodder. However, at least a few warrant comment. Howard for Marion in a sign-and-trade looks good to me. Yes, as the News notes, it makes Dallas even older. But with Kidd at the helm, you’re not planning for the future. Kidd, Marion and Dirk is a lot for an opposing team to mess with, plus the Matrix brings everywhere-at-once defensive versatility. I also like Howard for Mike Miller, even if the paper doesn’t. The Mavs could use shooters, and moreover, Howard and Rudy Gay aren’t the same player. Or even if they sort of are, what’s wrong with having twins at SF and SG: one who prizes dirty work, the other one a prima donna athlete.↵
↵
↵Seems more like Dallas just wants to make a move, and Howard’s their best bargaining chip. That his stock is now way down seems a hindrance, rather than a convenient excuse to shop him. Hopefully, it’ll be back to normal soon. The question, then, is if they’ll still be so eager to move Howard, as opposed to the more generic “make a move.”↵
