The ‘Boston Sucks’ Backlash Continues

So Lamar Odom had these shirts made to trumpet the fact that, for fans of Los Angeles, Boston sucks. Harmless enough, especially since all the proceeds go to charity.↵
↵
↵The question is, with the Lakers down 0-2, is this a laughable gesture that makes Odom look like a fool? Um, no. I don’t think anyone sane would say that, objectively, Boston sucks. They won more games than anyone else in the league and are in the Finals. But “sucks” can also just mean “we don’t like them and don’t respect them.” I think that’s something you can say on your team’s behalf until the series, or game, is absolutely positively over, and has been ended in a non-controversial fashion. Otherwise, what’s the point of fans?↵
↵
↵(At that point, it’s to boo Kobe, or chant “MVP” for Garnett, but we’ll have to see about that).↵
↵
↵As if this take weren’t weird enough, The Boston Globe has called this shirt a “bad omen for Odom,” and even printed the following sentence: “The shirts could be taking a backlash on Odom already. Lakers coach Phil Jackson last night said the Lakers forward looked confused at times.” Right, and I’m Colonel Sanders living out the life of Shirley Temple’s mom.↵
