The First Truly Weird Draft Manuevering

So we’ve spent weeks hearing that the Blazers have no need for further picks or young players. And hey, the Hornets could probably use another active cog or two to complement Chris Paul. Julian Wright from ‘07 looks like he’ll work out just fine.↵
↵
↵Of course, the only answer is for New Orleans to sell their first-round pick to Portland. No one really knows what the thinking is here -- presumably, the wily Kevin Pritchard has his heart set on someone late in the first round, and NOLA weren’t so moved by this year’s crop. You’d think that, when a team has previously grabbed All-Star David West way late in the first, they’d value such picks a little more, but who am I to question. Are they anxious about re-upping Paul and West in the near future? Counting on Hilton Armstrong? Is Portland trying to package this with the 13th pick and make some real noise in the lottery? Could my brain get anymore overheated already?↵
↵
↵But what this really means is that all bets are off, the draft is really here, and we just might get a night of utter unpredictability and high drama. And one we can then convincingly argue about until the end of time. None of this 2003 B.S.↵
