Pova’s Grunts Louder Than Motorcycles, Planes

Maria Sharapova lost in straight sets at Wimbledon yesterday, but at least she did it with ear-killing flair. Sharapova may be renowned for being loud, but thanks to the ever scientific British, you can officially say that even in a loss, the leggy Russian gives it motorcycle level effort:↵↵⇥Using a digital sound level meter, The Telegraph recorded maximum decibels of 103.2, louder than a motorcycle or a lawnmower.↵↵Sharapova’s screams are comparable to the noise level of a small plane landing, decibel-wise. Hearing loss kicks in over 90 decibels, meaning playing Maria Sharapova for extended periods of time may actually be harmful for your hearing, though it’s probably better for your overall health than hanging out with David Hasselhoff at Wimbledon or being a pigeon flying over the tournament.
↵
↵However, there is good news: She comes nowhere close to topping Motorhead’s standard volume of 126 decibels, displayed proudly onstage with a digital display. A world where a Russia tennis diva was louder than Lemmy Kilmeister is one we don’t want to live in, sirs and madams.↵
