The Pre-Draft Camp Results Are In

Okay, lovers of wingspan and possibly meaningless drills: Draft Express has the full measurements and combine results from the Orlando pre-draft camp.↵

↵The big, and most obvious, news is that Michael Beasley ain’t 6’10”. He’s a hair over 6’8” with shoes, which is how he’ll be measured in the pros. And what’s weird is that, as soon as this news has passed and these players make the league, they go right back to lying about their height. As usual, Beasley was flippant about these revelations:↵↵⇥“I didn’t know there was a height requirement for the NBA,” Beasley said last week, poking fun at the incessant speculation about his height.↵↵He’s also not worried because his wingspan topped 7’ and his vertical of 35” was none too shabby. In other news, Derrick Rose is shorter than advertised, the Lopezes can’t jump, John Riek’s wingspan was so out of control (7’ 8.75”) that his vertical reach is “N/A.” O.J. Mayo was impressive on all counts. Mostly, these things are good for weeding out prospects who are in absolutely terrible shape, like USC’s Davon Jefferson. That’s the real red flag scouts are looking for here.↵
