Dubya Is Super Stoked For Some USA Hoops

Not that it’s even any fun to pile on our nation’s President anymore -- has there ever been another sitting Commander in Chief openly mocked in a Dish TV ad? But it’s really hard to let this item pass by: According to The Guardian, Dubya is really big on getting USA/China Olympic Basketball tickets:↵↵⇥“I’m really looking forward to watching the American Olympic team compete, particularly with the mighty Chinese team,” he said after meeting Hu on the sidelines of the Group of Eight summit in Japan.↵⇥
↵⇥
↵⇥“I’m hoping to get tickets for the U.S.-Chinese basketball game,” Bush said. “If you can help me get a ticket I’d appreciate it,” he joked. Bush said he had spoken with Hu about human rights and political freedoms. “I don’t need the Olympics to talk candidly with somebody who I’ve got good relations with.”↵↵Whatever on most of that quote, but USA/China is far from the most compelling (or competitive) match-up, and really only matters in terms of geo-political bragging rights. I guess it will be the hot ticket in Beijing (assuming any Chinese people are allowed into the events), but come on. Incidentally, does anyone else Remember when Bush felt the spirit of Manu Ginobili would stave off Chavez-mania? Maybe now, he figures LeBron and Kobe can help slow down the booming Chinese economy.↵
