Ron Artest Reminds Us He’s Crazy

Ron Artest’s crazy will probably never top it’s Brawl-era level. But wow, I think we’re getting darn close now. From The Leader:↵↵⇥In a series of e-mails he sent to ESPN.com late Saturday and early Sunday, Artest continued to lament his decision to pass on an opportunity to become a free agent July 1 by announcing that he is now representing himself without an agent and expressing hope that he will soon be traded to “a team out there that can be more committed than Sacramento to me.”↵↵So there it is. He’s his own agent, which at this juncture is more Law and Order stunt than Arenas innovation; he laments not opting out when he quite easily could have, and everyone around him did; and the guy whose calling card is defense, who becomes attractive to Los Angeles, Denver, or Golden State on that basis, is crowing between the lines about offensive touches. ↵
↵
↵The Maloofs are downplaying any issues between themselves and Artest. And while it’s easy to think there’s no turning back now, it’s also becoming evident that pro athletes are sometimes as rash with the e-mail as you and me. Then again, they usually don’t fire their agents in the process.↵
