Posey Leaves Boston For a New Team Just For the Sake of Playing For a New Team

If blogging were reporting, I would’ve written up a post about James Posey to the Hornets as soon as I stepped out of the car last night. Because once news is twelve hours old, it might as well be dead, right?↵
↵
↵But I didn’t, and that gave me some time to reflect meaningfully on this move. What exactly are we to infer from Posey -- a key cog in a Boston machine that could repeat -- choosing to head to less proven pastures? Don’t get me wrong, New Orleans is perhaps the team of the future. Chris Paul is a genius, David West keeps it thorough, the team spirit is there, and all they need is a little more depth. Whether Posey causes a starting line-up shuffle or comes off the bench, like he did for the Celtics with little gripe, he instantly makes that team stronger.↵
↵
↵Here’s the thing: That’s just weird. I’m all for striking out onto the great frontier, abandoning the sure thing, wanting a chance to experiment with the newness. In a way, Posey is the complete opposite of a ring-chaser, and I have to admire him for it -- even if he’s maybe keeping Julian Wright from coming into his own. Maybe Posey got a little more from the Hornets than Boston could, or was willing, to give. But he’s not running elsewhere just for the dollars; he just genuinely seems to want something new.↵
↵
↵I guess we’ll just all have to accept Posey for the serial monogomist he is. He’ll give a team his all, help take it all the way, and then disappear down the road. Your call whether he’s creepy, restless, or needs to see a counselor.↵
