FirstCuts: No More Balance Board Games in ‘08

(Ed. Note: After sharing a home with TSB for eight months, FirstCuts is spinning off onto its own site by week's end.)

It’s only July, but it’s time to close the book on the Wii Balance Board for 2008. Speaking to Wired (via Balance Board Blog), Cammie Dunaway relayed this bit of news:↵↵⇥Dunaway: You have seen the extent of Nintendo’s 2008 holiday lineup. Also items that we didn’t talk about yesterday, like Wario Land: Shake It. Which is a great franchise for the core. It’s Wario in all his gross wonderfulness, shaking the Wii remote, and that’s going to be tons of fun.↵↵↵So what does this all mean? We’ll have Wii Fit, Shaun White Snowboarding, Wii Music and Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party. The next great fitness title doesn’t exactly appear to be part of this group. The only sports-related title will be snowboarding.↵

↵↵In fact, I’d argue that a lot of what has gone on with the Wii Balance Board is counterintuitive to the mission set forth when Wii Fit first came out. Consider the fact that you’ll actually sit on the Wii Balance Board when playing TV Party, and you’ll sit in a chair and place your feet on the Balance Board in Wii Music.↵

↵↵What do you think? If you bought Wii Fit with the hope of having a plethora of games to use on the Balance Board, are you satisfied with the catalog thus far?↵
