I’ve been saying all along that OKC needs to realize they’re not getting the Chris Paul Hornets—even if Kevin Durant is a darn good consolation prize. But The Oklahoman, whose NBA coverage has thus far left something to be desired, can’t stop and won’t stop. In today’s “Notebook,” we find a heart-stopping explanation of why Joe Smith and Desmond Mason haven’t been announced yet (need to finalize new name) and a report that the team is looking for a doctor.↵

And I get that, since he played a few games there in the aftermath of Katrina, Oklahoma City may have a special attachment to him, or at least more of a claim on him than the rest of us. Sadly, Chris Paul has left the building, and now resides in a “General NBA Notes” section, which will be significantly shorter, less loving, and more dismissive than the home team’s domain.↵
